9/29/03 Happy Birthday, My Precious Isabella!
It was just two years ago this day that our sweet Bella entered the world. I remember it as if it were yesterday. My mom, dad and brother came up from So Cal to spend the weekend with me. My mom was to help my mother-in-law with the baby shower set for Saturday 9/29/01. On Friday I was feeling a lot of irregular contractions which I thought were Braxton Hicks. That night they got stronger but were still sporadic. By morning I told Brian he better call the doctor because something did not seem right. Before he could get to the phone my water broke and the contractions came full force. At this point I freaked. Suddenly it hit me. This baby was coming now.
We made it to the hospital and the nurse told me to change and try to go to the bathroom. I tried but couldn't. The contraction were hard and I was praying that I'd endure it as I knew it would get worst. Nobody thought anything was amiss until the nurse checked me. She was shocked to find out I was fully dialated and ready to go. She quickly called the other nurses and doctor and they all ran around to prepare things as I was told not to push. I was still in shock and didn't know what to think. Thankfully Brian was there to calm me and my brother was there to take care of the details of the details like parking the car and contacting family.
Well, 45 minutes later a tiny but fiesty Isabella Rose Marie was born. I thought we were having a boy so I was again shocked to see it was a girl. I thought of all the coveralls I would have to exchange for dresses. I secretly was happy because I always dreamed of my first being a little girl. Although it pained me to have Bella taken from me (she had to go straight to the NICU room) I was overwhelmed with joy at Bella's birth and the fact that my mom and dad happened to be in town. It meant so much to have them there with me. And I never did make it to the baby shower but the guests were ecstatic to hear that it had been changed to a birth-day party! My little peanut is still small and fiesty and she still fills my heart with love and joy. Happy 2nd Birthday, Bella, my sweet little one!
