Politics and Religion

I love my in-laws dearly but I dread when they and their friends talk politics while we are at their home. Until the last couple years, I've never given politics much thought. I come from a family that is very republican while Brian's relatives are staunch democrats. Personally, we find good and bad points in both parties but vote republican mostly due to moral issues.

Well, last night Brian’s family watched 60 Minutes with Clark talking against Bush and his treatment of 9/11 and terrorism etc. I offered to wash the dishes after dinner so I would not have to sit there and listen to all their vile remarks about Bush and Republicans in general. There is no arguing with them and some things are best left alone.

After hearing the show, I am highly skeptical of Clark's assertions, especially considering his demotion, the timing of the book (election year), his connection with Kerry and the "promotion" of it on 60 Minutes (who's parent company has a financial stake in the book). I am not a blind supporter of Bush but I am much more prone to approve than disapprove of him. It's no doubt Clark's book will do damage to Bush's campaign and I am happy to see that the White House Rebuts Former Adviser's 9/11 Claims.

There are numerous issues to consider during this election year, but forefront for many Catholics and Christians are the pro-life and pro-family issues. The economy is always in flux and world issues are complicated, but I find it far more troubling that there is a strong and powerful movement to promote an ungodly agenda that attacks Christian values, as well as the sanctity of life and the sanctity of marriage.

Clark sure did a 180 from his 2002 view of Bush. Fox News has posted the following interview Clark did.
