12/24/04 - Score One for the Wiggles

| | Comments (2)

This morning Bella and I were watching Playhouse Disney and the new Wiggles Christmas show called Santa's Rockin came on. I was happily surprised that it is even more "religious" than past Christmas shows. There were numerous songs about the Christ child and character dressed as Blessed Mother, St. Joseph and Baby Jesus. There was even a song about Our Lady of Guadalupe and various religious images of Jesus, Our Lady and nuns praying in a church! I couldn't believe Disney had a show so blatantly Christian, if not Catholic. In fact one of the reviewers at Amazon gave the DVD a low rating precisely because it was "too Catholic". That's a definite plus for us! Check it out. (It'll be airing on Disney again Christmas morning.)

Hi Valerie,

Thanks for stopping by. Bella loves that Christmas show and whenever Baby Jesus comes on she runs to wherever I am and pulls me to the TV to see "Baby Jesus, Bessed Moder, and Sain Josess" as she says it. It certainly is a blessing from an unexpected place. Take care!

PS - Checked out your site and enjoyed it. I'll be updating my blogroll in a week or two and will add you on. :)

Hey,
I was impressed with the Wiggles Christmas shows on Disney that we saw last year...the only one that actually mentioned Christmas being the birthday of Jesus! I was completely blown away by this year's program, esp. during the song that had the video of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico and the nuns in church praying.

It intrigued me enough to try to find out if Anthony Field is Catholic (just had a feeling), and in my search today I came across your blog (which I've seen before but haven't commented on).
